The seven-month programme is designed for duos of master artisans and young talents to facilitate the transmission of skills and enable craft graduates to take the first steps towards a profession in the craft sector.

EXPANDING HORIZONS
Degroof Petercam partnered with the Joana Vasconcelos Foundation to hold an international conference in Lisbon. To highlight the way an art collection is created and maintained, with the contributions of Guta Moura Guedes, João Pinharanda (Director at the MAAT Art, Architecture and Technology in Lisbon) and (visual artist) Joana Vasconcelos.
REBOOT 2023 AND THE CRITIC CONDITION
Lisbon 2021, Paris 2022, London 2023. The capital of England has been chosen to host the third edition of the international conference REBOOT: ARTISTIC SUSTAINABILITY – BEYOND GREEN. In October, a group of international experts will gather in London to share their perspective on the conceptual approach to a subject that continues to gain momentum in the art world, focusing on the theme of “Critic Condition”.
A PROMISING FUTURE
As of today, Évora University wins a new grantee. Bruna Gerardo, a 2nd year student of the Degree in Visual Arts and Multimedia, with a special interest in combining traditional and digital techniques, was the candidate chosen in 2023 by the Joana Vasconcelos Foundation, pursuing a protocol first signed in 2015.

For the 31st Order of Dentists Congress, Joana Vasconcelos conceived a unique drawing, acrylic on paper, meticulously reproduced by MATCERAMICA on flat plates.
REBOOT in Paris
The city of lights hosted the second edition of the international conference REBOOT: Artistic Sustainability – Beyond Green. At Le Carreau du Temple, in Paris, personalities from different areas came together to reflect on the social responsibility of the artistic world on the behalf of the planet's sustainability.
FROM INDIANA TO LISBON
After the hiatus caused by the pandemic, Joana Vasconcelos Foundation has partnered once again with the Study in Portugal Network (SiPN) protocol, developed by the Luso-American Foundation for Development (FLAD) aiming to welcome students from North American universities during the Summer.
SUSTAINABILITY 2022
September 2022 brings along the second edition of the international conferences REBOOT: Artistic Sustainability – Beyond Green, which opens at 9:00 am Friday the 9th at Le Carreau du Temple in Paris. A program with varied talks and the goal to encourage creative dynamics and increase social responsibility on a planetary scale returns, after the success of the first edition which brought together relevant international names.

MÉRTOLA WEAVERS WELCOME JOANA VASCONCELOS
Fátima Mestre and Helena Rosa are artisans who keep the traditional practice of wool blankets alive. At the Mértola Weaving Workshop, they receive Joana Vasconcelos, a visual artist who frequently incorporates textile element in her contemporary creations. For a conversation promoted in the context of the Constellations of Futurama - cultural and artistic ecosystem of lower Alentejo - Saturday 30 July.
THE NOTEBOOKS OF MY LIFE
On the 18th of May, at 10 am, the launch of The Notebooks of My Life took place at Atelier Joana Vasconcelos. The event, anticipating ARCOlisboa's return to Cordoaria Nacional, was attended by the editor Lucia Bertazzo.
VALKYRIE WORKSHOPS IN LILLE
lille3000 returns to celebrate Utopia. The sixth edition of the artistic festival takes place between 14 May and 2 October 2022 in Lille, focusing on nature, in our relationship with the environment and in the bonds that unite the community.
MOLESKINE DETOUR NEW YORK
Joana Vasconcelos’ intervention on the world most famous notebook has been donated to the Moleskine Foundation Collection and took part in the exhibition Detour: See the world through creativity in the One World Observatory - New York (after showcasing in Paris and Shanghai earlier this year). Moleskina Contamina (2011) concentrates much of Joana Vasconcelos' visual identity through the amorphous figure in multicoloured crochet that breaks through the flat surface of the notebook.

JOANA VASCONCELOS AWARDED WITH THE FRENCH ORDER OF ARTS AND LETTERS
Next friday, 4 february 2022 at 12:00 p.m., Portuguese artist Joana Vasconcelos will receive the Arts et Lettres insignia from the hands of French Ambassador Florence Mangin, at the French Embassy in Lisbon. The Order of Arts and Letters, awarded by the French Ministry of Culture, honors “people who have distinguished themselves for their creation within the artistic or literary field or for their influence within arts and letters in France and in the world”.

ARTISTIC SUSTAINABILITY – BEYOND GREEN
On 17 September 2021, in the context of its internationalisation strategy, Joana Vasconcelos Foundation welcomes a program of events which aims to create and enhance creative dynamics of social responsibility on a global scale. REBOOT: Artistic Sustainability – Beyond Green includes a talk with Ai Weiwei and Joana Vasconcelos regarding the relationship between visual arts and political and social activism.
JOANA VASCONCELOS OR ART'S REENCHANTMENT
French philosopher, sociologist and university professor, Gilles Lipovetsky is one of the world's leading references on thought concerning contemporary society’s post-modern transformations. A self-confessed admirer of the Portuguese visual artist, Lipovetsky wrote with Jean Serroy «Joana Vasconcelos or Art’s Re-enchantment», which has just been published by Almedina publishers. OUTDOOR CINEMA AT ARMONA
When the sun sets over Armona (Algarve, Southern Portugal), the time for outdoor movie screenings comes closer. People gather over the sand (complying with all the security measures required), as Joana Vasconcelos’ Foundation brings once again movie screenings to the island, in collaboration with Associação de Defesa da Ilha da Armona (a local environmental conservation organisation). «The visual arts, like music, can be vehicles for peace, so it was a special experience for me to create the drawing for the cover of “Just Imagine People United”, following the invitation by Nuno Olim Marote. Just as it was a privilege to feel the harmony in the encounter with Vincent Lyn, through martial arts and meditation: to find an admirable man, available to the universe and to others. INVESTING IN THE FUTURE
The name of the scholarship holder benefiting from the grant awarded by the Joana Vasconcelos Foundation in partnership with the University of Évora this year has been revealed. It goes to Francisco de Carvalho Nunes Martins da Costa, attending the 3rd curricular year of the Design degree in that institution.

"I am used to thinking big scale and monumental sculptures, so when this small, transparent cube arrived, it felt like a huge challenge (laughs). But a challenge I was happy to embrace to help raise funds for THe Cure Parkinson's Trust. I decided to create a textile piece using the structure of a blossoming flower, following the colours and structure of the chakras, with their healing powers", Joana Vasconcelos explained.

ART SCHOLARSHIPS
Support for arts education is what moves forward the scholarships granted for five years now by the Joana Vasconcelos Foundation, in partnership with the University of Évora. This year, the scholarship holders are Júlia Kovács and Maria Frias Vila Lobos, attending the second year of the master's degree in “Artistic Practices in Visual Arts” and the second year of the degree in “Visual and Multimedia Arts” respectively.
SOLIDARITY IN A TIME OF PANDEMIC
