Fundação Joana Vasconcelos supports the exhibition Prazeres sob Ocupação, by Tanya Habjouqa – one of the series of exhibitions on photojournalism, which are now taking place in Viana do Castelo (North Portugal), on the occasion of the prestigious Estação Imagem Award.

Occupied Pleasures presents a multidimensional portrait of the humanity’s ability to find pleasure among the difficult circumstances of the Occupied West Bank, Jerusalem, and Gaza.

The exhibition will run until 4 May at the Museu de Artes Decorativas, Viana do Castelo.

There will be a guided tour and the catalogue launch, Friday 7 April, at 6.30 pm, with the presence of artist Joana Vasconcelos and the director of the Foundation, Ricardo Vasconcelos.

Tanya Habjouqa (Jordan, 1975) is a documentary photographer with a primary interest in gender, social, and human rights issues in the Middle East. Occupied Pleasures, heralded by TIME magazine and the Smithsonian as one of the best photo books of 2015 (winning her a World Press Photo award in 2014).
