SWATCH LOOKSEASY by Joana Vasconcelos
Joana Vasconcelos created LOOKSEASY, the first Swatch ever to include handmade elements.
On the occasion of the 56th International Art Exhibition - la Biennale di Venezia, Joana Vasconcelos was the invited artist to create a project for the Swatch pavilion at the Giardini of the Biennale. The artist created Giardino dell’Eden, a labyrinthine garden made of artificial flowers, light, and sound, presented in an inflatable pavilion. This partnership has also resulted in the creation of LOOKSEASY, a Swatch Art Special limited edition and the first one ever to include handmade elements.
The artist worked with artisans in northern Portugal who are specialists in the ancient technique of filigree. Following the artist's original drawing, the artisans handcrafted each gold dial of every single watch. Each watch was then assembled by hand by Swatch watchmaking experts, in a real premiere.
LOOKSEASY is presented in special packaging, covered with black velvet and a golden lining, evocative of a jewelry box.
