Fundação Joana Vasconcelos has joined the prestigious fundraising gala of amfAR, The Foundation for AIDS Research, with the aim of gathering funds for AIDS research.

amFAR took place for the first time in Hong Kong on 14 March 2015. It was presided by Pansy Ho, co-Chairperson of MGM China Holdings, and had actress Gwyneth Paltrow as Honorary Chair. The gala was also co-chaired by style icons such as Victoria Beckham , Naomi Campbell,Marc Jacobs  andKate Moss.

Fundação Joana Vasconcelos donated the work Burlesque, which has been sold for twice the estimate price and contributed to the $4 milion raised.

Joana Vasconcelos attended the gala, which happened on the eve of the opening of her installation at MGM MACAU, and her installation Red Independent Heart was at the centre stage of the gala.

amfAR is one of the world’s leading non-profit organisations dedicated to the support of AIDS research, HIV prevention, treatment education and the advocacy of HIV-related public policy. amfAR’s galas are amongst the world’s most high-profile charity events, and have helped gather millions for critical HIV research.
