Lisbon 2021, Paris 2022, London 2023. The capital of England has been chosen to host the third edition of the international conference REBOOT: ARTISTIC SUSTAINABILITY – BEYOND GREEN. In October, a group of international experts will gather in London to share their perspective on the conceptual approach to a subject that continues to gain momentum in the art world, focusing on the theme of “Critic Condition”.

Created by the Joana Vasconcelos Foundation, with programming by D. André de Quiroga and logistic support by MG Boutique de Serviços, the yearly and itinerant REBOOT conferences aim to provide a contribution to the connection between social and political activism and the visual arts. Through dialogue it aims to help to find new solutions for old problems. Towards a more sustainable future.

The first edition in 2021, hosted at Atelier Joana Vasconcelos in Lisbon, gathered a number of remarkable contributions from artists, philosopers and curators alike, including the contributions of Ai Weiwei, Barthélémy Toguo, Gilles Lipovetsky or Jean-François Chougnet, just to name a few.

The second edition took place at Paris’ Le Carreau du Temple in 2022, focusing on the history and the future of museums but also exploring the relationship between art and food, featuring the contributions of Demetrio Paparoni, Bernard Blitène, Celine Vogt or Pierre Hermé, among others.

The conference is broadcasted live online to thousands of viewers across the world, enjoying an enriching exchange of knowledge and experience which is transversal to the art scene. The issues facing the planet have a huge effect on the artists and their audiences. Cultural management, financing approaches, digital tools, teaching processes: all these have an impact on the visual arts ecosystem. But, through debate and exchange, new challenges can be met. For the future of art and humankind.
