The Joana Vasconcelos Foundation is proud to support the national campaign The Elderly are Valuable, against age discrimination, promoted by the Center for Geriatric Studies of the Portuguese Society of Internal Medicine (NEGERMI).

Geriatric medicine is not limited to the study, prevention and treatment of diseases and disabilities at advanced ages. It also has the duty to intercede in favor of the recognition of the rights, well-being and quality of life of the elderly. In a statement given about the project, Joana Vasconcelos says: «I never defended the ”forever young” idea and age has always fascinated me. I learned a lot from the experience of those who preceded me, also in my atelier team. Because we may be young and smart but experience gives us another kind of wisdom, the accumulated knowledge that is a priceless asset. It's the result of facing challenges, of perseverance in time, of the courage to live.»
