Sustainability is a subject very close to my heart and that I address often in my work, questioning current consumption patterns and their impact on the planet. In the historical moment we are living, it is a theme we must address with urgency and proactivity. A theme that propells us to come together and appeals to our social responsability – which motivated me to create in 2012 the Joana Vasconcelos Foundation, awarding scholarships and contributing to various social causes.

Over the years, I have had the privilege of meeting artists, curators, many people connected to the art world, who – like me – are unwilling to settle for the current state of affairs and looking for n

ew solutions.

Some of these people are joining us today, bringing their experience, sharing their knowledge, contributing to change the world. Almost thirty experts, from ten different nationalities, are joining us – either physically or through online connection – for a lively and constructive dialogue. Regarding museums and public art, the collector's perspective or digital transformation, approaching the artist's role as an activist. What unites us is the desire to contribute to a sustainable future. And we are very happy to have you with us. Thank you.»
