Artistes à la Une: Togeth’her®
Joana Vasconcelos takes part in the exhibition Artistes à la Une, Togeth’her®, organized to support programmes promoting gender equality and female empowerment, promoted by UN Women.
The project gave carte blanche to 33 artists from around the world to devise a Vogue Paris magazine cover with the portrait of a woman they see as an icon and inspiring example. The exceptional women represented have shifted boundaries, and through their courage and creativity changed the way we see the world. Joana Vasconcelos responded to the challenge by choosing Marie Antoinette, the last queen of France that defied the conventions of her time.
The works will be exhibited at the Monnaie de Paris between 19 and 27 February and auctioned by Christie’s on behalf of the French committee for UN Women.
