Fundação Joana Vasconcelos has joined the charitable gala Le Bal de la Riviera, which took place on 27 September at Estoril Casino, Portugal.

Organized by the prince Charles-Philippe d'Orleans, the gala paid tribute to Ian Fleming, the creator of James Bond, and marked the 50th anniversary of his death. The author's frequent stays in Estoril undoubtedly influenced elements of "Casino Royale", the first story of the world's most famous spy.

Joana Vasconcelos created an award offered by prince Kent to Ian Flemming's family, honouring the author's literary legacy. The award, Spring Ball, has been created with Rafael Bordalo Pinheiro faiences.

All profits from this event were donated to the Portuguese Red Cross.
