TOPÁZIO - 140 YEARS OF SILVER AT MUDE

The exhibition Topázio - 140 Years of Silver is open until 28 March at MUDE, Lisbon.

To celebrate its anniversary, Topázio invited 14 artists to create a special work to honour the brand's history and tradition. The challenge was to create a work inspired in D. João V Large Vase, Topázio’s iconic piece that mirrors the aesthetics of the baroque style that characterized one of the longest reigns of the history of Portugal.

The exhibition features works by  Nuno Baltazar, Didier Faustino, Dino Alves, Sam Baron, Fernando Brízio, Marco Sousa Santos, Dino Gonçalves, Nini Andrade Silva, Cristina Santos e Silva, Rodrigo Oliveira, Teresa Lundahl and Toni Grilo.

Joana Vasconcelos responded to the challenge with A Joanina and chose to remain faithful to the original work, but stripping it of its fervent decoration.

Each work is being sold in an edition of 10, numbered and signed.
