MOLESKINE DETOUR NEW YORK

Joana Vasconcelos’ intervention on the world most famous notebook has been donated to the Moleskine Foundation Collection and took part in the exhibition Detour: See the world through creativity in the One World Observatory - New York (after showcasing in Paris and Shanghai earlier this year). Moleskina Contamina (2011) concentrates much of Joana Vasconcelos' visual identity through the amorphous figure in multicoloured crochet that breaks through the flat surface of the notebook.

Founded in 2006, The Moleskine Foundation Collection contains over 1.300 notebooks that have been decorated, hacked, sculpted, and reconstructed into artworks. Detour: See the world through creativity, presents artworks by 75 creative thinkers (artists, architects, film directors, graphic designers, musicians, illustrators and writers) such as William Kentridge, Hans Ulrich Obrist or Sigur Rós, to name a few.

This collective show aims to support and amplify the "Creativity for Social Change'' mission by Moleskine Foundation, a non-profit organisation that believes creativity and quality education are key to producing positive change in society and driving our collective future. To achieve this, it works at the intersection of three focus areas: innovative education, art and culture for social transformation, advocacy and cross-cultural sensitization.
