Joana Vasconcelos takes part in the initiative One Small Step to raise funds in favour of MAG — Mines Advisory Group, a British NGO whose mission is to cleanse the earth from landmines and bombs from conflict areas.

A group of twelve renowned artists, including Anish Kapoor, D*Face, UnSKilled Worker and Mr. Brainwash, was invited to transform a space helmet, coinciding with the 50th anniversary of the landing of the Apollo 11 Moon landing in July 1969.

The works will be auctioned online until 22 July and all proceeds will go to MAG.

“Every day, twenty people are still being killed or injured by landmines and unexploded bombs, so we’re thrilled to be able to raise vital funds for our work through this unique and exciting exhibition.”
Jane Cocking, MAG’s Chief Executive

This project is organised by artist and curator Ben Moore and follows the initiative Art Wars, that challenged several artists to transform Star Wars Stormtrooper helmets, where Joana Vasconcelos also participated.
